I have not applied a finish to the shed because the little lads father is an artist and wants to paint and decorate the shed himself. There are no WIP pics as the project is quite simple and the pictures explain its construction.

First pic shows the interior of the shed with the roof removed. I opted for a lift off roof rather than a hinged arrangement for easy access to the interior for playing purposes.

The next pic shows the sliding door arrangement. I chose sliding doors rather than hinges. The pelmets are only screwed into place to allow for easy removal so the doors can be removed for painting. I also purposely didn't fit the window, again to allow for easy painting.. I did supply a window. (Plastic cut to size) so it can be inserted after painting.

And the finished project as was delivered to the happy parents. The main building was constructed entirely of plywood and the windows and door surrounds in Cedar.

Nice piece of work John looks great I’m sure it will be well appreciated and in years to come as well...... Just to day I bought a work bench and tools off E Bay, the price was right and the little fella spends a lot of time with me in the shed its his birthday on 17 th September so he will get it then I will put it in my shed he normally followes me up there so as soon as he comes in the door he will see it.
I was just wondering if you can buy some model tools to put it the little blokes shed or maybe make some I have seen them in some displays but never for sale so maybe they have made them.
Here is the work bench and tools http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/270851129...84.m1497.l2648
Not as good as something you would make but that will happen latter I’m sure and there are two of them the eldest bloke has just put me up to make some bird boxes for the school I hope they know about my slow work rate and are not in any hurry anyway its all good stuff Col
May your saw stay sharp and your nails never bend

Hi Colbra. That is a great looking workbench and I am sure your little fella will love it.
I have seen some plastic tools around so keep your eye open in the various toy shops..Making some stuff he could use? fist thing comes to mind would be a mallet, easy to make, small block of timber for the head and a dowel for the handle. Drill a hole in the centre of the block of wood to suit the dowel just glue the dowel into the hole in the block of wood and you have a mallet. Sanding block would be easy to make, just glue some sandpaper onto a block of wood. Let him help you make these.
Depending how old the youngster is there are some tools you can let him use under supervision of course that would not be risky for him to use.. A small hand drill would be something he could use and not come to harm using it. A few cheap clamps would be safe for him to use. His own rulers would be great. and a tool box to store his "proper" tools in.
I'm sure he will have a great birthday.
    Reality is no background music.
    Cheers John
