Default Our last day in London, we went to visit the Queen

Our last day in London, we went to visit the Queen at Buckingham Palace but alas all we saw was lots & lots of fully armed police everywhere....it was the 7th of July and the 10th anniversary of the London Underground bombing.....

On the way to the palace we visited some gardens and on the walk back we went to Harrods.....
WOW, what a shopping centre, doorman, staff everywhere and prices out of this world; as mentioned 12 pound 50P for a milk shake which was about A$28....we only looked and didn't buy even a overpriced souvenir.....found a couple of interesting cars parked in the side street of Harrods....

We returned to our hotel early to do washing and pack for the early pickup the next day...hotel door to Heathrow International Airport departures only 70pounds for the 3 of us, ouch....

Anyways' that's the end of our UK holiday; while we did see a lot, it was quite rushed and we'll have to do a much slower trip if we are able to return.....tomorrow we head for Helsinki and the World Gymnaestrada; 13 days; 21000-25000 gymnastics from 50+ countries along with 5000-10000 support staff; including 5 days of display performance gymnastics in 9-10 halls from 9am to 5pm every 20mins plus opening, closing and night performance shows; and our team of 21 from Springwood Boys & Girls Club...look out!!!

    Default Helsinki

We finally left London about 10.30am arriving in Helsinki about 4pm local time and after clearing customs we walked to the Helsinki Airport Hilton for the night.....

The rest of the team and other Australian teams arrived at 6.30am the next morning after there flight from Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide & Perth.....

What do gymnastics do while waiting for a bus to take us to the training camp......hand stands....

The training camp "Kisakallio", a large picturesque sports academy on a lake which was a warm 20deg"c" and so clean and clear, you could drink it out of the lake.....

After orientation, lunch and the allocation of dorms the kids had about 2-3hrs of training.....

It was a huge surprize to have good daylight until nearly 11pm which made it difficult for some very tired people to actually get to sleep....

Gymnastics Australia has organized an outing for us tomorrow....woo-pee....

Default A days outing in Tallinn in Estonia BUT 4.30am start

A days outing in Tallinn in Estonia BUT 4.30am start to catch the ferry....bother, 5-6hrs only sleep!!!

There was a stack of people on the ferry with school holidays starting....

An interesting fact...Helsinki brewery's make the beer & spirits BUT the exact same alcohol is cheaper in Tallinn so the Finn's go there to buy all there requirements....The night manager of the sports academy said for his wedding he took 2 vans over on the ferry to fill them up for the wedding party; said in Helsinki he'd have only been able to purchase 1 van full for the same money...

So we arrived in Tallinn to intermittent drizzle for a bus tour, that didn't slow down things as we stopped at parks & other historic spots..
The young bloke who was our tour guide was first class, sharing his superb local & international knowledge with prefect English.. A clever bloke too, he'd already done a Uni degree, doing another on history, plus spoke & read 5 different languages ...

The weather cleared up for the walking tour through Old Tallinn, both upper and lower....

Such an old city with so much history; a city & country that had been fought over by many countries for years...

We finally returned to Helsinki on the afternoon ferry for tea at 8pm back at the sports academy....
What a long but good day, I EVEN FOUND WOODEN TOYS, BOWLS AND HANDY CRAFTS.. ...

Great photographic skills Peter they are worthy of entering into any competition. There are one or two that I would pick for there composition and the way you have used different parts of the foreground to frame the picture.
