Default Toymaking Toolbox or Bench inspiration required.

    Hi All,

I am building some toys for my children, I am taking a break to clean up my shop (garage corner) and put all my toy making tools in a nice antique tool box.

Does anyone have any pictures of a toymakers tool box or bench for inspiration? Searching for Toymakers tool box yields very little on google, instagram and pinterest.

    Kind Regards,
    Dimithri.

I think you'll have more success is if you're less specific and just google "woodworkers toolbox."

It's the same problem: how to fit the required tools in a limited space with easy access and there are some pretty innovative solutions out there.

My approach would be to choose the tools I think need to be included and start visualising how best to assemble 'em into a 3D jig-saw, doing a few test mock-ups with heavy cardboard & duct tape to get a feel for practicality.

One thing is for certain; every woodworker has a different idea of what is necessary and what may appear to be ideal for you in a photo/plan may prove to be impractical when you try to jimmy your tool selection into it.
I may be weird, but I'm saving up to become eccentric.

The toy repair man's tool box in Toy Story has always been an inspiration for me.

A box for toys or a box for tools?

The problem with trying to give ideas is that it would be based on the person giving the idea and what tools they have to make toys and models. I have so many woodworking tools that my tool box is called a workshop and I have cupboards draws and racks and the like for all of my tools from power to hand tools. I could never fit tools for toymaking into one tool box.
I use planer thicknessers for preparing most of my wood then plans and saws for sizing along with a lathe to turn wheels along with all the bitysand pieces that go along with those

At least one person has tried to replicate the Toy Story 2 cleaner's chest in real life:

Yeah i complete agree. It was mainly for small handtools. The toy story box is so nice.
