Toys have a back seat for a little while.....
Toys have a back seat for a little while and here's the reason why.
My oldest grandson turned 6 on the weekend and my daughter ask me to make a custom bunk bed for him.
It had to give him maximum sitting up height on a 2400mm ceiling but also clear the Thomas the Tank Engine bed.
I'd made the Thomas the Tank Engine bed some years back for him and now his 2.5yr old brother was to get it.
The bedroom is small so the beds were to be arranged in a "L" sharp with the Thomas the Tank Engine bedhead under the new Bunk bed.
Anyways, I scored a secondhand single bed to use as the basics of the bunk bed but could only use the head & foot.
His my got him a "transformer" bed set & new pillow to dress the bed up.
Both boys were very excited and pleased with the new sleeping arrangements [mum was hoping that there would be no accidents and the youngest would sleep all night in his new bed].
The only down side is the ceiling fan& light will need to be moved, but it's winter so we just removed the blades off the fan until the electrician comes.
Cheers, crowie

Nice one Pete. I like the 'L' shaped arrangement.
My brother and I had the same setup when we were kids a couple of centuries ago.
(Or so it seems.)... Steve

Great job Crowie!
It reminds me of the time I had to make bunks for our kids and then afterwards belted my head on the upper bunk when I sat on the lower unit to read them a story. I ended up having to cut the uprights in half and then graft in an extender to each leg. At least it saved my head!

Thank you one and all for the kind words....
The boys are very happy with the new sleeping arrangements though the little bloke still don't stay in Thomas all night.
Oh and yes heads have already been bumped, my daughters.
Cheers, crowie

Nice one Crowie...
And my head I'd be a scratchin'
While my thoughts were busy hatchin'
If I only had a brain.
