Default The ultimate wheelmaking jig for easy making of tractor, truck wheels & whatever else

The ultimate wheelmaking jig for easy making of tractor wheels, truck wheels and whatever your imagination comes up with.

As a toymaker making wheels with tread can be a difficult process but my Dutch engineer friend Jan has come up with this fantastic repeatable wheel making jig.

I need assistance from Liam at Goat Works in Penrith to cut the major parts with his CNC for accuracy.

I had some trouble with the assembly plus the sourcing the hardware.

A helpful gent on Instagram who'd also purchased and made one of the jigs, assisted me with his photos of the assembly.

I've finished mine off with Bumblechute "Shop Wax"

All in all both Papa Smurf and Handy Smurf are pleased with this addition to "A Crowe Creations" shed.

Looks good what problems needed a cnc machine and what materials were hard to find. Need to find out before I try one.
    Thanks for any help.

    G'Day Peter,
My issue was identifying the required hardware through eBay in Australia.

I had to buy something similar to that which was specified in the plans, that equally worked, plus as you know with eBay it's packs quanities.

The use of my mates CNC made the cuts so much more accurate for the turntable and sliding mechanism, though I should have used solid timber over plywood.

I purchased a length of S/S Booker Rod [Allthread] for each of the M5 and M8 requirements along with a small packet of hex & nyloc s/s nuts.

Jan's [aka Dutchy] plans are extremely detailed; way over the top for a bloke who likes to scratch build.

The beauty of the jig is the ease of repeatable accurate cuts in the wheels one is making for whichever toy .

Very much worth the purchase and time to organize the making as it'll last a very long time.
    Cheers Peter

PS - I can "PM" you any specifics if required....cheers

I’ll look forward to seeing which model/toy you’ve done Peter.
