    Smile It's A THING-VW that is

While I was building the VW Truck I kept seeing the Thing as I searched for info for the truck project and thought how simple it should be as it is almost all square parts so here we go again.

Hope this cools some of you off cause in my neck of the woods it been pretty darn cold.
I have to get out there between the cold snaps.
Here's what I'm using to build it, so it's a scratch build from day one.

The blog for the build is here.

With this blog is a step by step on how I plan for a scratch build.
There's a hundred ways to do them but this is my way for now.

I had been using Gorilla super glue in it's nice big bottle for a long time but here lately their glue is so thick it's been unusable for me,[may be old stock that's drying out] so found a bunch of these little tubs to get the job done.

    Default I never knew?

I never knew that the VW Thing [gurgel] and the pick up [Kombi] were called by different name in different countries, might be an interesting story to look into..
Checked it out and here's what I found.
Manufactured and marketed by Volkswagen from 1968 to 1983. , as the Kurierwagen in West Germany, the Trekker (RHD Type 182) in the United Kingdom, the Thing in the United States (1973–74), the Safari in Mexico and South America, and Pescaccia in Italy. Civilian sales ended after model year 1980.

Hi Bruce, If you want to make another VW item, you could look at one of these, VW Country Buggy.
Always wanted one when I first got my license.

Should be an easy build, just flat sides, angled front and rear.

In regard to the THING, they also made an amphibious unit called Schwimmwagen.

Got thinking how can I add some texture to the seats and have a bunch a dowels so.
I made a jig to add some shape to it.
