Are Whirlygigs toys?
Here is another great link. This one is for making hand carved whirly gigs animated by the wind. I have been fascinated by whirlygigs since I was just a kid. They are like great automated toys, just out of reach, It was always fun to stick my fingers into them and make them move myself when the wind wouldn't do it for me.
. Woodwright's Shop with Roy UnderHill Secrets of the Whirlygig“When we build, let us think that we build forever. Let it not be for present delight nor for present use alone. Let it be such work as our descendants will thank us for; and let us think...that a time is to come when those (heirlooms) will be held sacred because our hands have touched them, and that men will say, as they look upon the labor and wrought substance of them, ‘See! This our father did for us.’ “ --John Ruskin. Audels Carpenters and Builders Guide, 1923 Theo Audel & CO. New York.

G'Day "labolle",
I've copied the link and will have a look over the next day of two.
The "animated toy" show was great through I'd use power tools.
Cheers,
Crowie
