Thread: Wooden Blocks for special needs school

Hello Sawdust Maker,
If you can give me the dimensions of all the blocks that you want for a set,
I am sure we can make and finish a few for you at the Hornsby Woodworking Mens Shed
where I have a small influence. Nick, in passing we dont use any craftwood, preserved pine
or other products that may contain toxic materials. I know that we would be delighted to help.

I managed to get one set of blocks completed. Not including the rounds as mention by Nick he will do it.

I've copied a previous post below
a basic block is 33 x 33 x 66 mm (middle at bottom)
I've started turning some bits from the wood given by Greg

there are some more fancy shapes if people are especially handy with a bandsaw

As you can see the triangles and wedge are simply cut from the basic square or oblong shape.
I have a feeling that there are a couple of longer ones than the quad


For my sons' set I also obtained some turned stock 66mm and 33 mm respectively and made the columns as below

Now I have a lathe I'll turn some of these myself to go with any sets that forumites supply.

some of these pieces are going to be made out of Rosewood

Nick after a week away I reckon you should be able to bowl over quite a bit being well rested.

This is the grand kids lot.
