    Default Display case

Hi all! its been a while since I have been here, last time I had just finished two Seagraves fire engines and was about to make a display case of some sort, well I tried a couple of methods but was not all that happy so I decided to make the case out of acrylic sheet come plexiglass or polmethyl metacrylate or Perspex I think its all the same but who knows its cheap and easy to work with the right saw blade MNF10 100T 30MM NEG RAKE. Use a jig to support the sides it’s a lot easier. And if you bevel the edges it looks better.
Cyanoacrylate Adhesives is the one to use check the use by date it has a limited shelf life.
The adhesives is very runny and dries very quick I think you can get two viscosities of the stuff now there,s a word and a half I think I have used it in the right context.
How to Glue Plexiglass | eHow.com this site will tell you all about it, there is also stuff on utube.
Maybe everyone knows about making a display case this way and I am the last to find out but if not that’s it.
I will put a base on the case and line with green or blue felt.
    Colbra.

Thanks for your interest Crowie there are some pictures that I have taken before, just after I had finished it, you can find them on the this part of the forum but at the risk of flogging a dead horse I will take some more. I have just brought a 100mm macro so this would be a good time to try it out I shall do it over the weekend.
    Regards Colbra

I have just seen that you have not been well I hope when you read this you are feeling better.

thanks Colbra! Just what I needed, some inspiration and a guide. I need to make a stand and a see-through cover for HWMNBO's EH model. Stuffed if I'm going to try to dust it

Default Pictures as requested by Crowey and repley to Ruffly

    Hi Crowie and Ruffly
I have attached the pics of the fire engine as you requested Crowie!.
Thanks for your letter Ruffly I was beginning to think everyone knew about making the display cases that way, I have only just found out about this clear plastic sheet and how easy it is to work with I am about to make some more display cases I could take some more pics of the process but there is heaps on the net and it may not be worth it.
    Regards Colin (colbra)

Thanks Colbra. I guess it's not always the pictures that do it, but in all honesty, the hints and tips that you learn along the way that really help the most. Experience really is the best teacher even if it is someone else's experience.
