Thread: G Day from New Hampshire, USA

Hi all,

I'm a mechanical designer by trade but do just about anything that pops into my head and roots there. I've dabbled in hydroponics, solar water heating, an electric bike trailer, built a hi-definition projector... you get the idea. Last year I did my part to save the world and bought an engine that I installed on my bicycle to get 160 plus miles to the gallon. I put about 1500 miles on it before the cold weather shut me down.

Wood working??? Yea... I do that too. ) You won't learn much from me but I can stick two pieces of wood together and make 'em stay. I only have the most basic of shop equipment... a craftsman radial arm saw and table saw. The table saw is about 25 years old and has served me well but I ran across an older model craftsman 100 series made by Emmerson Electric. I snatched it up and have it all apart now in an attempt to rebuild it and make it my dream machine! ) It's proabably 60 years old give or take and you know they just don't make them like they used to. I pick up new spindle bearings today!

Currently I am trying to decide how to go about improving the depth of the throat plate as this model uses a .060" sheet metal plate that gives no room for a wooden drop in. I am also looking to build a nice rip fence. So many good ideas out there!

This machine is my winter project and in the process of looking for ideas on how to better the machine I stumbled across this forum. The rest is history!

For now I better git cause I have another foot or so of snow to clear off my driveway before work.
