Default FNG here ( Gippsland )

Hi I am an old photographer with an interest in butchering innocent and defenseless pieces of wood.

We are sort of doing the owner builder thing with the help of a very skilled builder in Heyfield Victoria.

My experience with wood is very limited I have a few triton bits and I am looking forward to upgrading my very old workbench Mk 2 for something a bit more modern.

I love triton gear as I have used it for about 15 years and still have 10 fingers

    cheers doug

PS If you are totally bored and have time to waste please have a look at our photo website

I hope I cam better at photography than woodwork cos I suck at woodwork

    G'day Doug,
    Great Pics.
My Mum was born in Cowwarr (1913 or so). Spent lots of time there as a kid over holidays and stuff.
    Welcome aboard.

No they're like the rest of my Relos......all buried in Heyfield Cemetry
My last Yabbie catching experience in Cowwarr was in 1950.....so maybe you'd prefer some more up-to-date info

    Default Gday from Heyfield

I moved to Heyfield a few months back, have a mortgage now so i'll be here for life. Will prob be buried in the same cemetery.
I knew nothing about it a few months ago, even searched this forum and not much came up now I'm here I love it, was interesting to see it mentioned a few times on here now. Maybe it will get put on the map soon!

Welcome Doug, good to see another local. Where's your house getting built? Is it the one at the end of Mills? There's a few around for sale as well I've noticed. Love the photos on your website, especially the frog one and the fern shoot, I might have to ask you for some prints one day.

Great town, only one round about, NO TRAFFIC LIGHTS and the people seem friendly enough. Much less stress than where I was living in Knoxfied.

I'm fascinated by the area the more I learn.
Did you know this area was once the home to the tallest trees in the world until we cut them down! I'm looking for old stumps, found one in Balook last week, here is a pic of it taken last week (burnt last Feb ) I can't beleive how big they are, especially next to my skinny body (taken from on top of car)

Must search through the old's photos. I remember in there was a photo of my great Grandaddy and 20 or so other blokes, sitting in the kerf of a tree they were about to fell ofter smoko.
They used to make 'em big up that way....pic was from Licola.

Yes that would be great, photos are hard to find.
Sorry if I've hijacked this thread and gone off topic but trees in this area facinate me and I'v recently got right into finding out what ever I can about the old days.

They must have worked so hard to bring them all down with axes and get them out off the bush, when you stand at the base you wonder where to start its so big.

Welcome to Gippsland, the originals seemed to do a thorough job of cleaning out everything including the vast red gum forests along with the tall timber.
