    Default G'day Everyone

    Hey Everyone,

My name is Mark, and I'm very new to woodworking. I did a little bit with my dad when I was much younger, but haven't done anything in decades.

I recently got a few tools from my Dad as he is downsizing and not needing them anymore, and have decided to try my hand at some woodworking.

A couple of projects I've got on at the moment dont actually involve a whole lot of woodworking, as I'm basically just stripping back the finish and repainting some furniture for my 2 year old daughter's room, and the new bub on the way.

I am making an attempt at a fix on a couple of old dining chairs that were left out in the weather and all the glue joints have started to come apart, mostly guessing at the best solution and seeing how I go.

    Thanks for having me,
    Mark

Welcome to the Forum I have been dabbling for a few years, nothing serious, and there is plenty to learn! Something I learnt just the other day that may be useful for you to know: 'Hide glue' particularly useful for glueing up chairs. It has a long tack time, allowing you to coerce all the pieces together more easily, and can be dissolved by steaming the joints. I just refurbished 4 chairs and I wish I knew this before!
