    Default G'day from another Brisbane-ite

G'day! I have been a member of the AGGH forum (Aussie Guitar Gear Heads) for a few years, under the name of "guitarman". A few of our members are members here also, and I have visited occasionally, so I thought I'd sign up.

I have some really beautiful, really old (43 years drying) Red Cedar (Toona ciliata syn. australis), that was cut down in 1968 from my Grandfather's farm, here in Qld.
There are differingl sizes, but no length is more than about 2400mm (8 ft), and no width is more than about 300mm (12"). It is all about 25mm (1") thick.

It is the deepest, darkest red I've ever seen on Red Cedar, so it must have been a really old tree. My Grandfather, who was a farmer all his life, personally picked this one for himself.

Is there anyone here that could honestly point me in the right direction re the appraisal of this beautiful timber (quality, and worth, etc), as I want to keep a bit and make some speaker and amp cabs, which I think would turn out beautifully. I also want to sell some (but only to people who'd truly appreciate it for what it is).

    Kind Regards, jjh.

Thanks so much, Christos and AlexHW.

I suppose I'm officially 'on the Wagon' now! (the 'Welcome' one, at least)
