Default Gday Hello and Red Fox

    Gday
Dave here, all round maker off stuff, beater on the anvil and polisher of the wood, boom boom. Yes I'm old enough to be a Basil Brush fan.
I mainly joined up to see if anyone can shed some light on my latest acquisition?
A 4 x 12 Red Fox Thicknesser, Its a lovely machine and I'm very happy, I think it will give me years of good service, for half the price of a Chinese equivalent. I'm impressed with its cast iron build, damn its heavy. I have a copy of the sales brochure circa 1938, but what id like to get a copy off is the original operating manual??
I read and old thread on here where some one mentioned having one? but I could post to the thread as it was to old.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Ill probably not be the most active member, but hope I can help out where necessary. It goes without saying that I will be sure to learn from you guys and gals.

    Thanks Dave

Ps: this is the second forum I have joined, the other AULRO relates to Land Rovers, yes I like old machines and land Rovers!!

    Hi Dave,

Welcome to the Forum. This one is a good one

Can't help you with any details on an old thicknesser, but wanted to let you know I used to love Landy's too. Used to have a 1963 short wheelbase with a 161 Holden motor in it. It leaked like a sieve when it rained (wetter inside than out) but served it's purpose. Used it for putting my boat in - my logic - Aluminium - won't rust. Didn't think about the comfort (lack of it). Now progressed to FORD XR6 Ute - Beautiful. Anyway good luck with getting a Manual on the Thicknesser and hope you really enjoy the Forum.

    Regards

    Keith

G'Day & Welcome to a top forum "Dave".
There are heap of members in the Sydney area, across NSW plus the rest of the country.....
You'll find a heap of helpful & knowledgeable blokes & ladies on the forum and for most very willing to assist.
Make sure you show off your handiwork as everyone loves a photo, especially WIP [Work In Progress] photos with build notes.
    Enjoy the forum.
    Enjoy your woodwork......
    Cheers crowie

PS - There is a get together at Katoomba on 22th of November for the Sydney area forum members, though there are a couple of blokes are coming from as far away as the Hunter, Bathurst, Queensland, Victoria & Tassie....great way to met & make friends..

Also on the Thicknesser question, may I suggest you add a new thread in General or Antique Machinery & Machinery subsections of the forum to gain a wider viewing and thus more chance of the answers you're asking....
