    Default Hey From Chermside QLD

    Hey all

    I'm Getting back into woodworking, Finally!

    Would love any tips/ advise as I accumulate tools. If you are in my area and have any for sale please let me know. I don't even have a proper work bench yet

    And if their is anyone in my area who wouldn't mind showing me "how to" I'd love to hear from you! No doubt as I make things I'll get stuck and it'd be great to have someone be able to show me how it's done.

    Cheers

    Hi and welcome aboard. I don't have any tools for sale but keep an eye on the market place on this forum. Great stuff comes up for sale on there from other forumites. What part of Brissy you live?
    Reality is no background music.
    Cheers John

    G'Day "Philisa88",
    While being a Brisbane born and bred bloke, I'm a bit far from you now-a-days.
    On the bench, to get started, just get 2 secondhand solid core doors and make a 4x2 frame to hold it [screwed & bolted together];
    one for the top at about 900mm and the other for shelf about 200mm from the floor; I have added a sheet of 12mm CD ply on the top as a skin.
    On the tools, make sure you buy top shelf for the tools you'll use the most and then you can buy a lesser for those you use infrequently then it's a matter of watching the tools specialist shops for SALES plus garage sales & deceased estates.
    Enjoy setting up and have a heap of fun in your new woodwork shop.
    Cheers, crowie

    Thanks for the welcome Christos.

    Speaking of information,

    Anyone want to say their 2cents on a Biscuit joiner?
    Is GMC a good brand or one to steer clear from?
    Also, I have my eye on an Ryobi Biscuit Joiner- 2nd hand good condition.
    What is a fair price to offer for it?

    Cheers!

    G'Day "Philisa88",
    I have an older makita biscuiter, made in japan;
    not sure about the newer ones.
    I've been trying to remember all day about your Ryobi question.
    From memory, a mate who used to work in the power tool industry said the older Ryobi Biscuiters were okay!
    cheers, Crowie
