    Default G'Day from Melbourne

    Hi,
I have been around for a little while sussing out the site and action. I now feel as though I know some of you. There are some talented members.

My interest in wood and tools started with a fretsaw and making galleon ship models when aged about 11 and evolved further from the initial necessity to save money and DIY when first married. That was many years ago and I have made many things including major home extensions and renovations plus a sailing boat and a timber holiday house. I currently prefer making traditional furniture and period mechanical clocks. I have a good range of both hand and power tools plus a metal lathe and gas welding gear. I have to learn how to properly use the new mig welder I have just purchased.

Hopefully I can contribute in some way.
    Cheers
    Peter

Welcome to the forum. You sound like someone that has much to do and much to learn but more like much to share.

    Thumbs up

G'day Pete and welcome to the clubhouse.

It's a long way from a fretsaw to house extensions, but it's all wood and it's all good.

Welcome Pete! How about some photos of your furniture and clocks?
    .
I know you believe you understand what you think I wrote, but I'm not sure you realize that what you just read is not what I meant.

    Regards, Woodwould.

Welcome aboard Peter. Ah the old Galleons of yesteryear, was always fascinated by those models, specially the ones in bottles.

Thank you for your replies and friendliness,

Yes, I have even made - and still have - the very first ship in the bottle from my first career at sea. But then the motivation was to drink the gin!
Plus I still have and sometimes still use, because of nostalgia, the 'Hobbies Ltd" fretsaw, clamp on saw table and twist drill. The scroll saw and bandsaw have unfortunately rendered it obsolete.

Many of the items I have made have been given away and I never used to photograph them until the last year or two.

I will try to work out how to post a photo and start with some more recent smaller items and clock photos taken with a digital camera. That might be a start.
