We all tend to go out and purchase something that does not suit. Could the router not be returned to place of purchase so that they can at least look. Not sure what they would say about being off center or how they will test it.

I would have to find the receipt first. Its a half inch router and when input a half inch bit in there its terrible. When I use a collar and quarter inch bit i can get it better.

PS - I'm with Christos, even if you don't find the receipt how about a bank or credit card statement; worth a go....You could ask for an exchange or upgrade

I did manage to find the receipt, still within 12 months so will be interested to see what they say.

I am also in the market for a super budget table saw. I have been eyeing off a second hand triton 2000 with the extension, dust bag, saw and the planer attachment for 400 bucks. I can't spend too much here and I think this is a good step. I really would like one of the jet units or a cabinet but I don't have the dollars at the moment.

Any thoughts for a beginner? I thinkni could probably resell it for as much as I am buying it for.

Wrong way of handling this. You have assent from the wife, and she wants you to make stuff for her including a family dinning table?

This is your opportunity to get something better than a triton - remember in life, and buying tools, you generally only get one crack at it and this is after-all for her benefit!

Screw the triton, I just have to justify which power tools are necessary for building a table!

By the look of it though a table saw is the best tool to have for furniture making and general woodworking.

Further to that I could always say that I would need a bandsaw to build a heirloom rocking horse for her new nephew!

Possibilities are endless now

I purchased the Triton table saw and at the time it was what I could afford. I do want to replace the Triton with a table saw but there is no way that I can justify that right now. Using the Triton for everything that I need a table saw for except tilting the blade.

The bandsaw is one of the most used electrical machines in my garage. I might suggest that you take a look/read some old threads at the bandsaw sub-forum as a starting point. https://www.woodworkforums.com/f27 If you have questions then start a new discussion thread.
