    Default G'day from NZ

Hi to everyone from Hutt Valley, NZ.

I'm a keen woodworker whose main interest is in box making and small cabinetry.
Toolwise and apart from the essential workbench, I have a thicknesser, a beefy Triton mounted in a table plus a smaller Bosch handheld router, a sliding compound mitre saw and a pillar drill. I plan to add a bandsaw then that will be it as far as big power tools go.Then there is the usual range of hand power tools (drills, sanders etc.) My workshop is small so the thicknesser lives in a seperate shed.

I am moving more towards the use of handtools and SWMBO bought me a beautiful set of Japanese pull saws for Christmas. I have just added a Stanley #71 router plane from an on-line auction and today's project is fitting an old but good Record vice to my bench to replace a not so good one. My first project once the vice is fitted will be to make a marking gauge as the only ones I can find are either very expensive (eg. Colin Clenton etc.) or cheap and nasty. I will post pics of the process once complete.

So, I hope this gives an idea of where my interests lie and hope to be able to contribute something useful to the forum as well as getting tips and advice from other members.
    Cheers,
    Pete

    Welcome to the fold.
Post, lurk, observe and search...there is a truly ridiculous amount of gold plated info to be found here.
But also...don't forget to show off your work, whether you personally think it's good or not...it's all welcome

    Thanks for the welcome everyone.
I've just spent the day fitting an old (but good) Record 52 1/2E vice to the workbench and am now imbibing a welcome G&T.

G'Day & Welcome to a top forum on the big island across the ditch, "Pete".
There are quite a few members from NZ and cross the rest of this country and the world.....
You'll find a heap of helpful & knowledgeable blokes & ladies on the forum and for most very willing to assist.
Make sure you show off your handiwork as everyone loves a photo, especially WIP [Work In Progress] photos with build notes.
    Enjoy the forum.
    Enjoy your woodwork......
    Cheers crowie
