Default Greetings from Crescent Head NSW

Joined the forum today and have already benefited from reading other posts (e.g. I was about to buy the Scheppach hf50 router table and thank goodness I read what I did before committing - to the credit of the guy at Hafco he did warn me off if I was intending to work on hardwoods).

I grew up in a timber area of Africa and my Dad partly farmed timber and we all loved timber. I was lucky enough to be left a few timber pieces by my Dad made from timber protected in South Africa so very rare - stinkwood and yellow-wood. They are prized notwithstanding the farm-style woodworking!

Woodworking wise I start from a very low base and have so much to learn but am keen. My woodworking teacher at Maritzburg College was Poepie Jones and the one thing he always stressed was 'look after your tools as they talk to me every night about any wrongdoing'. As I slowly collect bits and pieces of gear in my farm workshop I am driving my wife mad as she is being asked to make covers for everything! We were fortunate in that an old wooden bridge was dismantled on our farm and the shire gifted us the timber - a friend has pointed out various high quality hard-woods amongst them.

Quick plug for my wife if I may - .Edited as per forum rules.

Look forward to reading and learning and hopefully one day contributing something useful for the benefit of others!

    all the best
    Sean (seanlark)

    Welcome Sean

If you want to meet a few from the forum and some from other places who share a passion for Wood Working you may like to check this out.

    https://www.woodworkforums.com/f25/ww...2014-a-170839/

At this time it looks like we will have a variety of competent woodworkers there with skills in flat work, wood turning, carving and perhaps milling.
Opportunity to spend one on one with some of these and whoever else is there and willing to share there time and expertise.

The invitation for you and whoever comes - bring some tools, bring some wood (these are optional but desired if possible) you can sell, swap, work with it or just watch others.

Mandatory if you come - a smile, willing spirit, desire to have fun learn and enjoy yourself.

Hope to see you there, if cant make it we'll see you round the forum and who knows maybe at some other event

    Take Care
