    Default Hello from Oregon, USA

G'day, all. Retired academic now making furniture for family and friends in the Pacific Northwest of the USA. I have a special interest in Japanese woodworking tools and techniques and restoring and using old woodworking machines. Very much looking forward to learning about woodworking in OZ.

Hi Gary, welcome to THE forum. You live in a lovely part of the world, bit too wet for me though. Last time I was there a lovely young lady told me you have two seasons. The wet and the road building, still laughing at that. Eugene and Klamath Falls are my favourite towns.
On the subject of Aussie timber, I class your Maple as a softwood compared to our hardwoods.
Enjoy the friendly wealth of knowledge on here.
    Rgds,
    Crocy.

G'Day & Welcome to the Great Southern Land and to a top forum "Gary"......
There are quite a few members from across the USA and the rest of the world.....
You'll find a heap of helpful & knowledgeable blokes & ladies on the forum and for most very willing to assist.
Especially a top mob of blokes on the toymaking & scale modeling section of the forum.
Make sure you show off your handiwork as everyone loves a photo, especially WIP [Work In Progress] photos with build notes.
    Enjoy the forum.
    Enjoy your woodwork.....
Cheers from On Top DownUnder, crowie

Thanks, all. I'm happy to be here.
I visited Australia a couple of years ago with three old friends from primary school in the USA to visit a fourth who emigrated to Melbourne in the 70's. Four geezers in a caravan for a month across Victoria, NSW, and SA. I tried to visit one of your famous Australian men's sheds but it didn't work out. I did get to play golf with kangaroos, though!
