Default Hey from Westernport Bay Melbourne

    Hi all.

Looks like I've been bitten by the woodworking bug and am starting to build up my tool collection and get started. The wife is even happy for me to get into it, I wonder if I am that much a pain around the house? Yes, likely.

I was wondering, any recommendations where to get the little things that aren't Bunnings junk? For example: engineers squares, glue, clamps and more clamps, precision measuring tools etc either online or in the S/E Melbourne suburbs.

    Cheers!
    DK.

G'Day & Welcome to a top forum "DK".
There are quite a stack members around Melbourne and cross Victoria plus the rest of the country.....
You'll find a heap of helpful & knowledgeable blokes & ladies on the forum and for most very willing to assist.
Make sure you show off your handiwork as everyone loves a photo, especially WIP [Work In Progress] photos with build notes.
    Enjoy the forum.
    Enjoy your woodwork.....
    Cheers crowie

PS - Watch out for local Melbourne get togethers, great way to meet like minded forum members & network...

Welcome to the forum DK. There are a few options when it comes to getting proper woodworking tool etc. For your general items there is Timbecon, Carbatec, Pop's Shed which should be in your general area. When you want to get into more specialised items there are Professional Woodwork Supplies, Chris Vesper and probably a few others that I can't think of off the top of my head.
Good luck with your new found interest, it's fun.

    Cheers,
    Dallas

Thanks Rudy, you know I totally forgot about Amazon though it does tend to be light on locally available products most of the time. Still, I think that's probably a lot easier!

    Cheers mate.

Welcome! Previous posters have suggested a couple of online alternatives to the Big Green Store, which usually have much better stuff. How far are you round the bay? My step-kids are in Coronet Bay, and we're in Somerville.

Thats true generally for local products DunningKruger however have had a Shelix cutter blade for my Thicknesser and a box of Router bits delivered from The States with free deliver in the last few weeks, is always worth a look for stuff like that, anything bigger than that is probematic. Unfortunately the local market is relatively small which does mean that our choices are limited both with respect to range and suppliers...and value as a consequence I suspect as well.

    Cheers,

    Rudy

G'Day Rudy, Start a new thread showing you thicknesser with the new shelix cutterhead.
Show some of the practice runs and finished boards as well as the how of sourcing them.
I have a Byrd unit in my Dewalt DW735..
    Cheers, Peter
