    Default Just joined the Forum

Hi all, I have just joined the Forum and my name is Geoffrey.
I live in the deep end of the SE suburbs of Melbourne.
I am retired now after years of work in Commercial building.
I started my working life as a carpenter and I used to work for my father on the weekend as well.
After I finished my apprenticeship I joined my father working as a subbie.
I worked my way up to Foreman, Site Manager and Project manager.
I also worked as a Contracts administrator.
I have a medium size work shop now and my hobby is wood work.

Welcome Geoffrey although I am a little confused as it says your join date is 2013. Sounds like you have a lot of carpentry and administration experience so you should be able to handle woodwork as a hobby. Most people seem to take up another hobby rather than continuing with the chosen career but at least you will know what you are doing and don't need to start from scratch. Having said that, I have a friend who was a cabinet maker with his own business for many years and he continued with woodwork after finishing work and still enjoys it, producing exquisite work.
I worked with metal most of my working life and found woodwork a great alternative and now still do into retirement.
Look forward to seeing some of your projects you undertake.

    Cheers,
    Dallas
