    Default a late g'day from Hobart

    So, even though I signed up months ago I've only now found the time to say hello - guess we allknow about that.

    The best way I can introduce myself is to say I'm the "Pete" that Cliff Rogers has made reference to in various posts. Thanks Cliff.

    You'll find me haunting the boat pages and one of my goals in life is to meet up with Michael Storer - he's one clever lad.

    I'm currently building my ay through Platt Monfort's Geodesic Airolite designs and have a couple of Snowshoe14s and a Nimrod12 under my belt, a Classic14 about to be skinned and a Snowshoe 12 framed up. After that it will be the Arrow14 and then perhaps a kayak of some kind.

    I'm also currently sailing Sabres and plan to build one of those when time permits. I have an interest in Gwen12s, Moths and OK Dinghys as well. And in a past life I was both an Observed Trials rider on board varius Montesa's, a dabbler in Italian road bikes - Laverda's and Duke's - and a competitor in Targa Tasmania and Classic Adelaide in a Bolwell Nagari.

    That's me. I look forward to contributing what I can to the site and becoming more than just a reader in the wings.

    G'day Pete and welcome on board, I too am a Hobart based recent member of this forum, and have a number of similar interests though less so with boats (though wouldn't mind but especially larger ones....yachts to sale around the world. A dream). Mostly I dabble with old wood for house restorations I am working on and antique furniture.

    I am wondering are you entering Targa this year in the Bolwell with Di (Alfa GTV6 owner) since if so, you probably have also entered a few of our car clubs hill climbs in the past (Club Motori Italia). This is where one of my old passions lays (Italian sports cars to which I admit ownership of 3 !).

    Anyway, I also note your interest in Italian bikes. While I would love a Duke (especially a 750GT or SS of '70s vintage) no luck so far, unlike my brother in law Steve Boutchard. Ditto, you possibly may know my brother Graham (used to compete in Targa in the big blue and silver Mercedes 220sb) until it was destroyed a couple of years ago by another competitor. Currently he is building up a new vehicle, a 1930's based Riley special. Dave

    Sorry Dave, myTarga days are over (last competed in 2001) and I've replaced the hot, oily, petrol fume laden cockpit of the Bolwell with sawdust. Ditto the bikes though I'd be tempted if a nice 3CL was on offer. I'm interested in what you said regarding old timber for house restorations. We're about to embark on some renovations which include a cortyard/atrium. We're looking for some big old timbers to recycle. 200 or 300mm square, x metres long - any ideas???

    Aha, just went and googled the entry list - that's Bob Clayton in the Nagari - I'll have to catch up with him.
