    Default Looking Forward to Chatting

    Hello Everybody,

I'm from the USA. I found this forum and it looked fun so I thought I would give it a go.

I'm a hobbyist woodworker. I've managed to acquire some tools in my garage and look forward to talking with you all about our projects.

I use mainly power tools for my jointing, planing, and joinery. I've recently acquired some hand planes though and look forward to learning how to use those better as I'll need to for an upcoming dining table I'm building for my wife.

I'll see all of you around the forums!

HI Bevel Up, welcome to the forum. You will find that, while most members are in Australia (Oz), there are many from all parts of the world and you will get ideas from a huge variety of scources.
Looking forward to seeing pictures of your work.

Thanks, I'm looking forward to it. Back when I was a young kid in high school I had wood shop every year and built quite a few things. I built a sleigh bed out of red cedar, chippendale style stacked chest of drawers out of red oak, a head board out of red oak also, and a night stand out of alder.

Over the years I've built a couple of things but work has slowed that down some however I am getting more active in the wood department again. I recently built a simple medicine cabinet with adjustable shelves to replace our contractor grade one out of red oak and a big end table out of hickory also with a big adjustable shelf (with maple drawer front and walnut piece in the door) for my recliner.

I'll also be restoring some early 20th century hand planes (Stanley bailey #4 and #7) so I'll be posting about my experience on that as well. Going to follow Paul Sellers restoration video.

Here are some pics resized to 800 x 600 per forum rules. I'll post my table and lingerie chest once I get those going and done (may be a while).
