    Default New Member- Ms. Miracle

    Hi all,

My friends call me Miracle and I hit the ground running and already done my first posting before introducing myself! (I never was one for doing things in the right order....lol)

Since I was a kid I had a fascination for Kinetic Art.....those who may not be familiar with the term....if is stuff that moves in the wind like Whirligigs, Wind Chimes, Wind Spinners etc.

So being in the process of writing my business plan and putting in steps for my new life (drop kicking the old life out the door time for a new start!!) I was researching my idea and found the front door for the Wood Work Forums...it was open so I wandered in, found a bean bag and settled down in the corner to watch and learn!

I hope to gain enough knowledge and ask enough questions to set myself up a workshop where I can develop my fascination with the Kinetic Art there is also a practical side as part of my new life and new business means I need to create several hundred signs.....so I also intend to teach myself routing and sign making as well...so it is ‘work’ but work that makes me happy!

While I have no experience in wood working I did seven years ago with no experience and a city slicker to boot buy a ten acre run down farm that I turned into something I consider a thing of beauty . I self taught myself a whole range of skills including Snake Wrangling, Building massive retaining walls (30 meters plus out of both wood and another from brick) self taught myself how to replace toilets and be a plumber, maintain machinery, build post and rail fencing( So I learned how to 'bend' wood), made huge garden beds and the effort I never want to repeat moving 240 ton of soil from the bottom of the hill with nothing but a wheelbarrow and shovel! etc etc.

However those days are behind me now...I need to do stuff that is a little easier on me physically as I had a little incident involving a ride on mower, wet clover and a tree...the tree won, the ride on mower was dented but fine but I was not! I broke some bits in my back, combined with a few other farming injuries making Whirligigs and Wind Spinners should be a pardon the pun....a breeze!

Looking forward to chatting to everyone and learning from others experiences!
