    Default Another Noob

G'day. I'm not a woodworker, I'm an old signwriter. I haven't worked in the industry for many years but have decided to go back to my old trade and start making timber signs. I'll specialise in genuine Gold Leaf (pic below). I first found the forum googling for info on table saws. I can't justify buying one yet but if I can get some online sales I'll be able to get a new toy

So anyway, I've been looking mostly through the Tools and Routing, as well as Finishing/Spray to brush up on the newer products etc. Have decided to make a basic router bench using a plan I found online. Nothing high tech for now, but will be OK for what I'm doing. I know I should post in the proper section but if anybody can point me towards reasonable priced T Track and Bolts would be appreciated. The bolts seem to be crazy expensive in the places I've looked so far. Maybe that's just the way it is?

    Pete

Hi Pete, Welcome to the forums. I did a course in signwriting at art college back in the 80's, I remember the gold leaf pads especially as they were a pain in the backside to apply at first.

Yeah, they can be bit tricky. Were you using loose leaf or transfer sheets?

    Welcome Pete,

There are some awesome router table builds on this forum - well worth checking out.
For T-Track fittings I recommend buying something like this - as the individual piece prices are crazy.

Carbatec Hardware Fitting Kit - 5/16" Thread | Carbatec

For T-Track itself, either Carbatec or Timbecon. I always think the track seems pricey - but I never end up going through much of it.

    Hope this helps.

Thanks for the welcome everyone. Just went to start a thread with pics of my router bench, but I don't have permission to add attachments anymore (even though I did at the start of this thread). I'm assuming there's some kind of rule about being new and posting images, I had a quick look in the rules but couldn't see anything jump out about it. It would take another 2 days read it all. Can anybody shed some light on how/if/when I can post some pics?

Thanks DJ. I've created the thread here Basic Portable Router Bench

Something weird going on with the pics though. They look upside down when I open the thread but right way up when I click on them?!?

Did you take the pics with a phone, this is what usually happens, it’s all to do with how the software saves the data and how the forums sees it. Turn your phone 180degs and they should show up the right way as thumbnails and exploded view.
    Cheers
