Presenting myself

Dear All

My name is Federico, I am an Italian industrial designer, actually living in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

I'm trying to help my instructor in building a makiwara.
Makiwara is a wooden training tool, used in Okinawa first and then all around the world.

So I decided to joining this vary nice forum to get more info about this great material and to receive some good suggestions from experts! I'll open a new thread in the proper section

Hi and welcome Fredrico, the world is a small place these days an Italian in Argentina doing a Japanese sport on an Australian forum, talk about multi cultural. If you can find an image of the makiwara you like and post it, I am sure people here could give you some clues on how best to make it. I used to do Karate a few years ago but work got in the way. We didn't use a makiwara we always had enough people in th dojo to have kumite with. Enjoy the forum

Yes, I'm quite a multicultural - global guy hahaha...

The good think of the makiwara is that it allows you to train full power punches on a wooden post and not on you training mates belly haha. Sometime it can be good to check out if your abdominal are stiff but well... you'll agree with me that a wooden post will not complain about it but still it will "fight back"... haha

It's surely an interesting city with a lot of beauty but also its "dark" sides and contrasts.

I didn't have the luckiness to visit Australia but I hope to do it soon or later.
