More time in the shed
G’day . Thanks for having me . I’m a retired dealer/restorer of antique and vintage furniture . 50 years ! Where did those years go ? We sold our small lifestyle property and moved into the town where I ran my business . We moved in January 2020 . 20 months later I’ve been spending that much more time out in my new shed , due to Covid . Still doing restoration work but only projects that I like. Apart from my shed I have a shipping container full of future projects . I can do basic repairs, like jointing tabletops, tighten chairs, replace missing veneers, even made a mahogany table leaf once but I’m more a restorer than a maker. Trained as a French polisher over 50 years ago . Have never used a spray or lacquer , just shellac , or beeswax, even slow oil polishing by hand . I’ve done grand pianos …..hard work but the results are fabulous and of course a big pay day after weeks of work . I used to buy baby grand pianos then repolish and restore them for sale . Too old for that now. Too heavy and no showroom now either . I came here to glean some tips and techniques in woodworking as I expand the hobby side of my work . What I have read and looked at is most interesting . Looking forward to reading a lot more . Cheers my new friends

Welcome SolarSon and it sounds like you come with a wealth of experience in the finishing field. Have you been introduced to the Woodworkers of the Goulburn Valley who are in your town and have an excellent setup the last I saw.
Look forward to seeing some of your works down the track.Dallas
