    Default Yo dogs!

    Hi there

Just thought I would pop by and introduce myself.

I am an old buggar (50) in Perth, who hasn't done much with wood at all over the years. Sure, the odd project - coffee table, bookcase, etc. But never got really "into it".

My wife asked me the other day to make a combined shoe rack / seat for the hall. This time, I thought, I would do the job properly. No screws or nails, just mortise and tenons and lap joints.

What fun I've had! Each night I can't wait to get out to my shed to do some more. And my joints (no jokes now) have improved with each one I've done.

I don't have many power type tools, only a hand power planer, drill saw, and drop saw. I thought a bench saw might be useful, so last night picked up one a fellow was selling. It doesn't have a brand on it but the model is FMTC1500TK.

It has a 10" blade, cambers, winds up and down, a 1500watt motor and is brand spanking new! Only $120. Seems like a bargain to me.

My next project will be a bedside table - can't wait.

    All the best

    Wongdai

    Wongdai, welcome.
You know pure handwork is always the best, I'm doing this all the time, so working with my bare hands, not with a lot of machinery, the most satisfying way of working.
But I guess that's something only for the older generation like us, we are used to this kind of working.
Have fun, and I hope you show some of your work to us.

Thanks for the kind welcome all.

Sanding by hand got too much for me, so I have somewhat tarnished my no power tool approach, and bought myself a Bosch ROS.

Tonight after work I will be gluing it (the furniture, not the Bosch) together.

    Can't wait!
