    Default Quick dowels

    I needed to (species) match some dowel for a recent project and a mate suggested this method..
    (apologies if everyone already knows about it)
    1...drill a series of holes in some 6mm flat bar steel
    2..cut chosen wood slightly over dowel size..(eg..6mm dowel = 8mm blank)
    3..place blank over the hole and bash the $h!`; out of it with a hammer..
    4..Voila!!...matching dowel...
    5..noice

    what if the hokey pokey is really what it's all about?

    Yes that makes good sense Underfoot;
    though one would have to ensure the steel plate was robust enough for the forcing.
    Thanks for the tip.
    Cheers, Crowie

    Undie, I'm sure D1 has read the thread that was running a while back on dowel plates etc. Suggest you go and check with her for the finer points discussed in the thread Yes they are a great idea, but as I think I said in the old thread on some of my projects I have used up to 2m of colour matched dowel which makes a plate a bit slow. See if you can track that other thread down.
