    Default Just a quickie

While sanding a panel recently I flipped it over to discover that there had been some sawdust underneath, I had swept the surface of my trailer bench but obviously missed this bit.

I now had some very nice scratches and a gouge in the finished side .

After the usual bout of profanity I now have what I think is a viable solution.

In front of my saws, drill press and bench I have those 10mm thick interlocking rubber mats which are used for camping. I had a spare set [6 in a pack] I had bought on special from K Mart. A couple of these locked together are now used underneath the job when sanding etc. Less slippage, easy to see any bits on them as they are black and easy to clean - if really dusty etc just hose them off, dry and go again.

    Regards,
    Bob

Good tip. You can also use old carpet underlay.
