    Default restorer recipe

    hello , having been held ransom to the price of $29 au per little bottle of furniture restorer i would like to know if anyone knows where i can find a good recipe to make my own as i restore many large pieces and it is getting crazy as far as financial outlay. if anyone could help i would be eternally grateful

    The classic home brew is equal parts:
    Methylated Spirit
    Pure turpentine
    Linseed Oil
    White vinegar ( this can be half the quantity of the others)

    Test it first as it can be quite hard on french polish and also, clean your work afterwards as it tends to stink a bit.
    Always shake the mixture til cloudy before use.

    Should have pointed out this is not a stripper more of a cleaner but its quite effective.

    thank you i will experiment , not quite sure of the mix ratio but it's a start , it's mainly ti get all the scratches and stains out to put the peices on the shop floor, i appreciate your help......

    I usually make it up to a litre of mix at at a time. As i said, equal parts of each except the white vinegar which can if desired be half the amount of the others.
