Absolutely no difference in performance between Dexter and Al-Ko, whatsoever. I have worked for both Al-Ko and Melbourne Trailers (the Australian distributor for Dexter) and have no particular preference for either. Al-Ko do have an "Off-Road" magnet kit they option to lessen the wear on the magnet arm when used on corrugated roads, but in my opinion, this makes the brakes slightly less effective under light braking. Not that many people would pick the difference, or even know there was a difference.

If by "Chinese" you mean major manufacturers having their components manufactured and assembled in China under tight controls, then that's the way alot of companies are heading just to stay in business and be cost effective.

If by "Chinese" you mean the rip-off merchants sending components off-shore to get cheap copies made of the major brands, then hocking them off back here at 1/4 of the price just to make a few dollars for themselves on the back of someone else's brand name, usually without the ADR approval required to sell them on the Australian market, then I shudder to think what is hurtling at me at 220km/h in the opposite direction with "Chinese" brakes.
