I decided to make a single 750kg motorbike trailer out of scrap and from left overs i had , so i used them and put this trailer together for under $200 , that includes a few new bits !

A rough breakdown on prices ** scrap steel was approx $95 , 3 x ford wheels with good LT tyres $40 , 3mm chr plate bike holder $40 , spring hangers $14 , bolts $5, all the others bits and paint i had left over so no outlay.

- The main frame and drawbar is 70x40x40x6 C channel. The 2 main crossmembers are the same plus 40x40x6 angle and round pipe 30mm to fill it in . The steel is old , 1970's id say and some of it was pitted but still useable.

- The tongue to hold the hitch on is 20x100 plate , fully welded underneath and bolted on for extra measure plus i tacked the nuts on.
- The mudguards , axle , lights , hitch , chain , are from another trailer i found that was going to the tip.
- The welds are mostly fluxcore welds and some stick welds on the thicker plate. The welds are bit ugly in places but acceptable and look ok with a coat of paint.
- I painted the underside while it was upside down with gmh black as it was easier then painting underneath right side up.
- I intially estimated i'd get it done in 1.5 days but it took a week off and on, that doesnt include picking the old steel apart and cleaning up everything i.e springs , old steel , rusty bolts ect.

Still to do is install lights , make a ramp , install the spare wheel carrier , and fill the void between the draw bar with a tool box for ropes. Its definetly not pretty but solid enough and does the job !
