8x5 Tipper Trailer
Hi Guys,
I am looking to tackle my first trailer project and would love some feedback & ideas. In a nutshell it's going to be a single axle 8x5 box trailer with manual tipping functionality to transport mulch, compost, gravel or the occasional quad or ride-on mower, might even take it on camping trips. I am hoping to hire it out to neighbours to recover some of the cost. For that reason it's going to be be build solid and rugged with mechanical brakes (a compromise I know). Drawbar tippers are out.
Here are some commercially available trailers showing the tipping mechanism. It's not going to be exactly like that, purely for inspiration.

What are your thoughts on integrating the drawbar into the lower frame (eg with front cross members cut to accomodate drawbar on same plane)?
With the upper (tipping) frame, would I gain strength with a third longitudinal RHS member down the centre? Could attach the winch cable to it.
Cheers
Frank
