well, it's been a while since I was about.
I've been on the road with the trailer in tow for a few weeks now and the two or three weeks leading up to departure were filled working flat out on the trailer and associated stuff.
I'm currently in Winton, QLD after coming up through the centre and Tennant Creek from Melbourne. Darwin had to be deleted from the trip due to lack of time.

Long and the short of it is that the trailer and kitchen components work very well. The trailer pulls beautifully behind the car without any overt indication that it's there except for the extra mass when accelerating. I made a 2100x400x350 (LWH) pantry drawer that fills the RH third of the trailer and a pair of 800x400x150 drawer units from light weight 12mm ply that are behaving beautifully at the moment. For the big pantry drawer, I made some slides from two lengths of 3mm sheet with a 90 deg bend along the length and some bearings and bolts as cam followers. I allow about 1600 of the length to protrude from the back of the trailer as a free-cantilever. I didn't want to be stuffing around with legs. The small drawers have plates, bowls, cutlery, spices, etc and use off the shelf 100% opening slides.

The relevant photo shows how much of a rush I was in to get on the road - one set of small drawers has no fronts, and the other has some rough 'finger' holes. I had installed some round flush mount recessed finger pulls (not the ring pull type), but the inside lip that you had to hook you finger in was crazy sharp and the missus said no way. Out came the nice chrome pulls in favour of a rough hole right through the front face.

More details and better photos to come.
