I was using .6mm wire in some of the earlier pictures, and I had the same thought about some of the welds so I ground them back and checked them out. They were welded well in my opinion just didn't look real great. They looked like weld on weld in some spots but they weren't. Anyways I bought some .9mm wire and the welds look much nicer.
The draw bar is longish I guess at (a rough guess) about 1650mm from the ute tub. Without the jockey wheel and tow hitch on the front the trailer tips back. So I think the tow ball down weight should be ok?

    Exclamation

I was goingn to modify or rebuild my trailer so I had a chat with a mate who was the head honcho for a trailer making company. He advised 1500mm for the drawbar - tub to ball.

I've gotten it all together, am still to paint the chassis but needed some wood for home and hopefuly going camping next weekend too.
I picked up some tiles Friday afternoon and with 200kg worth of weight in it, it all went well. So I grabbed some wood this morning not sure how much weight but probably close to a tonne?

I still need to get a toolbox for the draw bar and make a jerry and spare wheel holder

That looks like it would have been a fun trip, with all that weight behind the axle...

    Looking good though.

    Thanks Yonnee
My mrs was driving so who knows... I'm in charge of a spit we're having today for lunch. And I think it sat pretty well behind the Nissan. Usually it's the other way around with trailers on it as they pull it right down. I usually have the tow bar all the way down and most trailers are still to small for it.
