I thought that as well, but he did specifically say marine ply so I answered on that basic

If you're asking for opinions, I actually really like both. The Black suits the wood grain, and the Polished looks fantastic with the gloss black insert.
However, your business is in Stainless Steel, so I would go for the polished. Painted black just looks like another custom rear tray without actually promoting your business.

    What he said.

I notice your renders have expressed joins on the deck, which look pretty sweet particularly in the black version, but obviously you won't get that with a ply surface unless you rout them - is that the plan?

Yer will definately be going polished for that reason

And yes will be routing V grooves to give the impression of timber decking. That will also disguise the actual join between the two ply sheets.

Looking good - my only concern would be the routed grooves and moisture.

Sooner / later it is going to get really wet - you will need to ensure that the grooves are well and truly sealed to avoid any moisture issues.

I wondered about this too, and was going to suggest on top of the formply, a gloss black sheet of acrylic/perspex. Or if you get a sheet thick enough, use it instead of the formply... It can be machined and routed, even heated and bent. The only major issue would be scratches.
