    Default light trailers

Hi was in Bunnings having a looking for cutting dics.
So I see Bunnings are now selling trailers.
    Had 2 , one may be a 6x4 with a low cage.
    And a Tare of 165 Kgs ???
    and a GVM of 750kgs.
    all bolt together.
at $ 820. a bit over priced. and bit light on steel.
    I would say china kit.

I'd be interested to see who the VIN tag stated as the manufacturer. All trailers to be used on Australian roads require a VIN number on a tag that has at least the manufacturers name on it.

The tare weight listed would most likely be the weight without the cage.

That GVM is pretty standard for an unbraked trailer with a 39mm round axle with Holden bearings, but even without the cage, I wouldn't expect a 165Kg trailer to cart around 585Kg for very long without falling apart.

$820 is reasonable for a well made cage trailer, but from the sounds of it, it's not that well made.

I've seen one of these in the flesh, in my opinion, not worth the money, something to keep far far away from.

Yeah I used to own a bolt together job, now doing time at my brothers. Unit was not from Bunnings. Easy trailer from memory. Bolt together yourself job. Used it for all of the usual (tip trailer) duties. It did fine. Once or twice I even filled it with gravel on short trips. No issues. Now I could'nt recommend one used my old unit in a prefessional capacity (builder etc..), but for regular backyarder stuff it was fine. My building fetish took off so I offloaded it and picked up a tandem. 6 x 4 is no good for 6mtr lengths of material etc......

I will never be the person who has everything, not when someone keeps inventing so much cool new stuff to buy.

From an early age my father taught me to wear welding gloves . "Its not to protect your hands son, its to put out the fire when u set yourself alight".
