Light Weight Teardrop Camper
I am seeking some advice from the trailer experts.
I am going to build a retro type teardrop camper to tow behind my old car.
It has to be as light as possible as the car only produces 19 bhp,
In general the size would be 2400mm long, 1600mm wide and total height of about 1750mm. I will be getting hubs drilled for the car wheels which are 17inch with narrow high profile tyres.
My questions are, what is the lightest material I can use for the frame and drawbar, and any suggestions on how to lower the floor height (don't like the dropped axle option as it means I have to increase the width and weight)
I am hoping to get the all up weight as low as 200kg or less if possible, but in any case as light as I can possibly make it.
ThanksRegards
Bradford

I'm making a light weight tool trainer out of steel hollow sections 30 x 30 mm. The drawbar is 65x35 I think. The sides are filled in with Rondo 129 channel with 0.55mm signwhite steel sheeting. The floor is 12mm ply reinforced with Rondo 129 over a short span.
Aluminium would be the lightest by far but lightweight top-hat steel can work well to reinforce flat sheet walls and floor.
Good luck
Cheers
