Default pfc and angle for a boat trailer?

    Advice required!

I am going to build a boat trailer for a light weight trailerable yacht 300kgs
I am thinking a 100 x 50 PFC for the side rails on the chassis.
I am thinking for the ease of galvanising that the cross braces I would use 50mm equal angle.
The boat will be supported on moulded stations mounted on the cross braces as the picture below shows
So is there any reason that angle could not be used? Most people use RHS but the way I see it for rust prevention and ease of galvanising angle is ok?

    Thanks
    Scotty

If we are talking about the traditional hot rolled channel, you will be building quite a heavy trailer. If you are talking duragal channel, that would be lighter, but you could possibly look at getting some 3 or 4mm sheet folded to your required dimensions.
As for the use of angle iron, it could be used if you take into account its poor torsional strength compared to a box section.
You are quite correct in that angle and channel are easier to work with from a galvanising perspective. Have you priced the galvanising? The galvaniser that you would be using charges like a wounded bull. I strongly suggest that you talk to the galvaniser and find out just what can be fitted in their bath so as you don't find that your trailer when complete with hull supports won't fit, (you may need to use bolt on supports or such).
There are some really tough coatings available now that will outlast galvanising, (think of the coating used on steel piles for example).
