The steel arrived today. A long story short, the driver unloaded the steel behind my wife’s car blocking her in, I'll be having words with the people in the office about that.
On a lighter note, after a hour I got the basic frame cut up and I arranged it on one of the mesh sheets just to keep it all square for now. Might start some welding tomorrow.

Two hours later and the basic frame is mostly welded. Just the top side needs to be welded, It's about 1mm within being square so I'm happy with that. Also got the spring hangers on.

Got the draw bar on. Pulled out the axel and wheels and fitted them up so I can get the guards mounted at the right height. Should be more to come tomorrow.

Very nice looking build, but I'd be putting something around that gas bottle to stop it from falling sideways

The bottle has lived there for a few years now. I'm in the habbit of grabbing the bottle while I move the welder around. Fitting a chain or rope is on the 'to do list' but I never seem to get to it

Got some more done today. just about finished the frame then it's up to fitting the bike chanels and mesh. I'm hoping to have it finished tomorrow if I don't have a hangover (I've got a 21st to go to so we'll see).

Another couple of hours done. It's now down to all the tedious things so we'll see how long they take.

Nice work!!
Looks like you'd have room to put the axle on top of the springs. Why so high? Usually a trailer like this you want fairly low to aid in loading and unloading of the bikes.Too many projects, so little time, even less money! Are you a registered member? Thanks Yonnee. I put the axle under the springs for mock up because the axel came from a old trailer that was set up that way but the springs came from another trailer that was set up as 'axle over' so I wasn't sure what way I wanted to set it up. After putting the 'axel under' I done some measurements and found it wouldn't sit level as is but it would with a axel over set up, I done all this before putting the wheel arches on. Busting out the tape measure and crunching a couple of numbers I set the wheel arches for a axel over spring set up, I just haven't moved it yet.

Also good catch on the 280. It belongs to my brother inlaw. We've been working on it for a number of years now, between him at uni and me being self employed it makes it hard to get work done. The plan for it is to just get it on the road for now then think about anything else later on. If your interested in seeing more of it Michael started a Facebook page on it Mic's 280ZX Project | Facebook

Well the body of the trailer is done. All thats left is to clean and paint the axle and springs(don't want crappy looking stuff on a new trailer), inspect and re-pack the bearings, fit the lights, mount the spare wheel and add some tie down points.
