Rear slipper spring is coming out
Hey folks great site you have here, I've been lurking around here for a while finding the awnsers to any question I had by serching but now I have a different problem. The past two times I've gone camping and taken my motorbikes one of the springs is somehow coming out of the rear hanger. I'm guessing is is happening after I've hit a pot hole or a rut in the road and a wheel will bounce up in the air (dirt roads). When the spring is in place the rear of the spring seems to stick out enough. Do I need to move the rear hanger forward? If so will it cause any binding issues when the suspension travels? Or are the springs worn out? I have no idea how old they are so that might be on the cards anyway.
This is what it looks like at the moment. Thanks for any input you might have.

Firstly, welcome aboard.
Generally this happens when you try and reverse the trailer up over a gutter or similar. As you attempt to keep pushing the frame of the trailer backwards, the wheel, axle and spring get caught in the one spot, and pop the spring out of its hanger. You could get another single hanger, cut it in half and weld it in front of the existing one...Too many projects, so little time, even less money! Are you a registered member? Thanks for the reply. I dont remember reversing the trailer on the way home and I did check it before we left but we may have backed it up a bit at some stage. I was thinking of cutting another hanger in half and welding it infront but I was just a bit worried there might be some binding issues when the suspension moves, but after reading a lot of your posts you do know your stuff so I'll try that and see how it goes as we have another trip away in a few weeks.

I will never be the person who has everything, not when someone keeps inventing so much cool new stuff to buy.
From an early age my father taught me to wear welding gloves . "Its not to protect your hands son, its to put out the fire when u set yourself alight".

And whilst you're there welding the other bit on, weld a bit of flat plate where the spring is rubbing on the chassis to stop it wearing through
Cheers

Looking at the wear on the bottom of the hanger (where the spring is resting in the picture above), the spring looks like it has been out of the hanger for a while, or it's happening quite often. The left hand side tyre is the furthest from the driver, so it can be quite a task to judge where that wheel is in relation to a curb or parking barrier.
