    Default Off road trailer

Hi, I have been going to build a trailer for the last couple of years but other projects keep coming up. I am looking for a high quality off road trailer to be used for camping and also for landscaping and rubbish removal. Any suggestions? I was thinking maybe a Dean box trailer but I would also want a tow bar type attachment at the back for attaching a Thule bike rack as per some camper trailers. Any suggestions or ideas appreciated. Thanks

Hi Mick, would you be wanting a camper on top of the trailer or is it to put camping gear in it and covered with a tarp or similar? If you are going to make a trailer, the options are unlimited, spare wheel, boat rack, fuel racks, gas bottle, own power 12volt/240volt fridge etc. on the draw bar, lift up camper to gain access underneath. PM me for plans if you want to go that way. I use to build trailers and other accessories for a living.
The tow bar part is easy, a piece of 65 X 65 X 6 rhs the length from the rear of the trailer, to a front support. 300 X 75 X 50 X 6 angle notched out to accept the 65 rhs, and another piece to go on the front of the rhs, so that it looks like an I, which will bolt to the underside of the trailer, depending on the manufacturer, an extra piece of angle or flat, may be needed to be welded underneath to support the tow bar front and rear. Any place that makes tow bars can supply the rhs, drilled and fitted with an anti rattle bolt.

If you are going to buy a trailer, ask them to set up a tow bar system on the back for you, as they build it.
    Kryn
