    Question Trailer load for registration

    Hi I am building an enclosed motorbike trailer at the moment with a single axle 40mm x 40mm and six leaf slipper springs I have put on hydraulic disc brakes as I was able to get them at a very good price. Just had to buy the discs and the callipers were for free vn commodore. Trailer will hold three bikes and gear.
    But my question is for reg what load will it be able to carry. I need to put this on the compliance plate thanks.

    Firstly welcome aboard.
    40mm sq. axles rate at 1000Kg with Holden bearings & 1100Kg with Composite bearings. Quickest way to tell, is if the outer bearing journal is the same size as the axle nut thread, then it's Holden. If it steps up a few mm, then it's a Falcon outer bearing for Composite, but these are generally used in Caravan axles with overlay.

    Your spring rating will depend on leaf thickness and quality of steel used, but you be safe enough putting 1000Kg on the VIN plate.
