Trailer part ratings which way round?
If faced with a choice of ratings should the axle rating be higher than the spring rating or the spring rating higher than the axle?

The axle should be rated equal to, or higher than the springs. This way, even if you overload the trailer, the springs will sag and help save the axle. If it were the other way round, the stiffer springs put all the shock load back on the bearings.
