Trailer refresh
Hi,
Started off with the aim of lowering the guard height on my trailer, but turning into a bit of a refurb of my tandem car carrying trailer. It's 10+ years old, but has mostly lived inside so rust isn't a major problem. Anyway, when i purchased it i was pretty green and just bought the cheapest trailer I could find, which equals mimimum spec steel used throughout and basic quick to make design. The downsides are obvious, but the plus point of the that is the trailer is quite light. I only tow an old car which weighs a bit over 1000kg / 2200lbs. I also don't want to buy a new one or build from scratch so will be working with what i have. The smart move would be to sell what I have and buy a new one, but that would be no fun, and I reckon by the time I ended up buying what I really want it would be decent $$$.
Anyway, keen to add some gussets to the frame. Buying gussets like these look pretty cheap

but they might be too small? I might end up just cutting up some mild steel with 45 deg angles to do this

This gusset is welded twice each end. Is that the best way to do it? Any other wdvice appreciated?
Also, the draw bar is welded accross the top which according to the net is a no no, so will be adding some guessets to that also.
Cheers
