    Default Upgrading caravan suspension

Good evening everyone, about to upgrade the suspension on my caravan from 1500kgs capacity to 2000kgs capacity; this to allow adding 3 large solar panels onto the roof, increase the battery bank from 80 amp hours to 300 amp hours and a 100 litre water tank.
So far my research suggest that I would need to add a secondary chassis to the existing one and the size of the material to be 50 x 75 duragalv, then using 100 x 50 for the new draw bar. The new suspension unit is going to be a premade coil independent unit.
Is the size of the material the right size or do I need to use a larger size and where would it need to be used ?
    Cheers Alby

    Hi Alby,
Is the van going to be an Off Road type of vehicle? If yes, the dimensions for the second chassis should be fine, I personally would go to 125 or 150 X 50 X 3+ for the draw bar. If an on road van, the secondary could be 50 X50 X 3 and drawbar 100 X 50 X 2.5+ should be fine.

Hi Alby, How is it going with this conversion, I think we might have pulled up next to each other at the traffic lights in Murray Bridge, there was a Nissan Patrol? with a plate similar to your tag, unfortunately I was turning left and you were going straight ahead.
    Regards
