We live in an old 1950s farmhouse and our entrance door is more akin to an old shed door made from Tas oak flooring nailed to rear rails and braces.
Having picked up over time some Tas oak in 110 x45 and 140x45 I decided it was time to have a go at building a door. First I jointed the timber and thicknessed it down to40 mm thick . I then cut the mortises using a door mortising jig I have and cleaning up with a chisel
Next was to cut the tenons
A test fit then glue up using polyurethane glue
Turns out there was a split in one of the stiles
Cleaned up the glue and cut stiles to length glued up the infil panel for the bottom
Then cut rebates for infil panel and glass
A couple of coats of exterior polyurethane then fitted glass and infil.
And now we have a lockable door.
