    Default 2 bedsides

Some rather curvy bedside tables. All solid American Oak except the drawers, which are veneer. The top is bookmatched 6mm timber laid on 12mm MDF with techniglue, then framed and finished with decorative pegs. The legs and rails were cut on the bandsaw and hand finished.

    Default Beautiful work

Fabulous pair of tables. Certainly wouldn't suit my decor, but really appreciate the amount of work you put into the legs. I hope you get a good price for them, there would be more than a few hours in construction time on these beauties.

Unfortunately they were under-quoted, but they were for repeat customers and we didn't lose on them so not too upset. I don't think we would have got the job at all otherwise.
There was 40 hours work in them, almost half of that was for the legs

Great job ! Good to see some curves for a change, maybe your not though? My goodness American oak is popular, I'd almost hazard a guess to where they're going to.

    Thanks
I love making stuff like that, keeps my spoke-shaving and hand-work skills up to scratch. Demand for older style furniture is decreasing, so it makes for a nice change too.

    Nice Job Elan .
The shelf interests me . Did that go in when the upper joinery was assembled.
Or was it fitted after the upper carcase joinery was dry ?

    Thanks

They were stained medium brown, lightly aged/distressed with a waxed finish. I don't have any pics unfortunately, I'll try and remember to ask the others.

The shelf is cut out around the legs dowelled from front to back. It went in at the same time as the side rails.

Terrific production. What sort of style would this be, Louis XVI or something "close"?

How do you achieve the mirror image of the legs? Impressive !!

Haven't got a clue what style it is, I just make them and let other people worry about those details

If by "mirror image" you mean keeping them all the same shape, the answer is simply being careful. I mark them all from the same template, cut to the line and try to sand them as evenly as I can.

You are better then I Elan ... If someone started to distress a piece of furniture I just made, I think I would punch them in the nose. Never been a fan of distressed furniture. Truly old ... Lovely ... Fake old ... No thanks.
